Before Appliance.io

Retail runs deep. Jon, founder of Appliance.io, grew up inside Slyman Bros., a multi-generational appliance business. Appliance retail wasn’t a market opportunity. It was everyday life.

1965 - 1990s

The roots

Jon grew up in a family-run appliance business founded in 1965. Showroom floors, warehouse aisles, delivery routes, and customer conversations shaped his understanding of how independent retailers truly operate.

2000 - 2010s

The operator's eye

As he became more involved in the business, Jon gained firsthand insight into inventory coordination, pricing, logistics, and service workflows. He saw clearly that retail systems should reflect real operations, not the other way around.

2018

First lines of code

Jon began building software for his family’s appliance business. The goal wasn’t to “enter tech.” It was to solve real retail workflows from the inside.

2022

Appliance.io is born

What started as tools for one retailer opened to independent dealers across the industry. Appliance.io was formally established, built on decades of hands-on retail experience.

2026

A new chapter

New face of the brand. Same focus. A clearer expression of what the platform stands for: connection, momentum, and simplicity.
